Long term effect

Blindness at a young age means longer blind years.

85% of classroom learning comes through the visual system.

A child with visual impairment is handicapped in school.

Long term effect is reduced manpower development in the society.

Blind individuals also become liabilities, in a developing nation, resulting in a greater socioeconomic burden on the society by uncorrected refractive error than by cataract blindness.
