What is the way forward?

Detection and treatment of refractive errors. If refractive error blindness is prevented at an early age, prevalence in 10 - 20 years will drop drastically.   More emphasis should be placed on prevention of refractive error blindness in pupils and students, than ever before.

Develop programs that target the 6 - 18 age group, instead of concentrating only on dispensing of reading glasses .
