ABSTRACT

Eye wear is a multimillion euro industry and several

companies are involved in it. Affordable eyewear is not

a new concept but the design is new.

To compete effectively in the global market and still

provide affordable eyewear to the needy population,

one must have an effective distribution network.

This paper discusses options for distribution of

affordable eyewear at the international, national

and local levels.

Factors that could influence the cost and acceptance

of the eye wear are also mentioned.

The paper concludes that the costs of affordable eye wear

should not be more than 1/10th of the average monthly

income of the target population.
