Opposition by Medical Profession

This occurs at a political and organizational level, and there are many individual ophthalmologists who are objective, and whose only interest in interprofessional relations is the welfare of the patient.

The opposition by medicine to the development of any competitive health discipline is well documented, and there are now many books written by sociologists which analyse how the medical profession attempts to minimise competition in the market-place, not just for services, but also for the right to be considered THE authority on all matters relating to health.
