B The Relief- NGOS
In the midst of all these obvious circumstances, there came a relief in the form of Non Governmental Organizations, NGOS. NGOS, according to the World Bank are non-profit making voluntary service oriented/development oriented organizations either for the benefit of members, the population or a social development or organizations assisting in the empowerment of the people etc. They could also be described as organizations established by and for the community without or with little intervention from the government; they are not only a charitable organization but also work on socio-economic-cultural activities.
