Over 900 million children and adults are visually impaired due to refractive errors that could be corrected by prescription eyeglasses. The World Health Organization estimates that 75% of the world's blindness can be prevented. It is indisputable that education opportunities for over 900 million children and adults in developing countries are critical if they are to be productive citizens participating in the economic growth of their respective countries. But if they can't see or have access to eyecare, all growth is impaired.
